With the chick feed, egg incubator, and brooder box you helped provide, students participated in every step of the hatching process and proudly welcomed six healthy chicks into our classroom. Seeing those chicks hatch was a powerful moment—students were filled with excitement, curiosity, and a real sense of responsibility as they worked together to care for them each day.\r\n\r\nThe students' reactions to these materials were incredible. Many had never seen chicks hatch or been responsible for live animals before, and they immediately took ownership of the project. They asked thoughtful questions, carefully monitored temperatures, tracked growth, and learned the importance of consistency and teamwork. These experiences helped build confidence and showed students that agriculture is both meaningful and hands-on.\r\n\r\nYour support also allowed us to explore plant science through our hydroponic garden, where students successfully grew tomatoes. Watching plants thrive without soil truly amazed them. Students loved checking root development, measuring plant growth, and seeing tomatoes form right in our classroom. This project opened meaningful conversations about sustainability, water conservation, and how modern agriculture is evolving to meet future needs.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are excited to continue using the hydroponic system next semester to grow additional crops and deepen our understanding of food production systems. We will also begin the process to hatch ducks so students will be able to experience a new type of poultry! These projects have sparked curiosity, responsibility, and pride in my students, and none of it would have been possible without your support. Thank you for investing in agricultural education and for giving my students experiences they will remember long after they leave my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1757944871735,"projectUrl":"project/agriculture-exploration/9688060/","projectTitle":"Agriculture Exploration","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Klovenski","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8099906"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_11289","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":744,"numTeachers":59,"percentFrplEligible":58,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":18,"percentWhite":38,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":38,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":90.9,"schoolId":11289,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Brenham Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Brenham Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/brenham-independent-school-district/brenham-junior-high-school/11289"}
