My students will be able to explore more through hands-on options and have more choices and independence through use of these materials. Through the use of hands-on manipulatives like magnetic letters, alphabet chips, and pop-it arcs, students have been able to engage in multi-sensory activities that allow them to visually, tactilely, and interactively connect letters to their corresponding sounds. These materials have made learning fun and engaging, allowing students to practice sorting pictures and words based on beginning, middle, or ending sounds. The tactile nature of these activities helps strengthen their understanding of how sounds form words, which is crucial for decoding, spelling, and reading fluency. \r\n\r\nAdditionally, the use of differentiated small group instruction ensures that each child receives targeted support based on their individual progress, allowing them to develop at their own pace. The project has fostered not only essential literacy skills but also a love of reading, setting my students on a path to becoming lifelong learners. With the tools provided by this project, my students are not only mastering key literacy concepts but are also building the confidence and enthusiasm they need to continue growing as readers.","fullyFundedDate":1739812861270,"projectUrl":"project/read-smarter-not-harder-the-science-be/8962151/","projectTitle":"Read Smarter, Not Harder: The Science Behind Every Word","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sullivan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9588611_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y103&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721229845211","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9588611"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_74603","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":295,"numTeachers":9,"percentFrplEligible":41,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":93,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"32.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":86.7,"schoolId":74603,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Brandon School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Brandon School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/brandon-evansville-independent-school-district-2908/brandon-school/74603"}
