Ceramics students are really taking their art to the next level with the glazes and supplies. We are starting a project to create modern, abstract clay vessels. We are looking at Chinese bronze vessels and modern art to create a really unique combination of old and new styles in ceramic. The raku glazes are really going to make these pieces one-of-a kind! \r\n Students were extremely happy to receive the materials. One student is even pricing her ceramics to prepare them to sell at art markets! For Brackenridge ceramic students, this donation is a dream come true, as they have been \"making it work\" with old, boring glazes for years. \r\n Moving forward, we are going to experiment with microwave firings and even try to have a weekend \"trash can\" firing where we can show the community what raku is all about! The possibilities are endless! We are very grateful for this opportunity.","fullyFundedDate":1764723240480,"projectUrl":"project/rockin-ceramic-students-seek-raku-glaze/9892197/","projectTitle":"Rockin' Ceramic Students Seek Raku Glazes","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bennett","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2318811_orig.jpg?crop=1920,1920,x0,y166&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742226603725","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2318811"},{"teacherId":10292859,"projectId":9835585,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, my students are engaging with their learning in a more intentional and meaningful way. We have been using the new resources regularly during lessons, practice activities, and collaborative work. Physically writing concepts down has helped students slow their thinking, strengthen their memory, and better organize their ideas. I've noticed that students are more focused and willing to work through challenging problems when they can write, sketch, and revise their thinking rather than relying solely on technology.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first received the materials, their excitement was immediate. Many commented on how much they enjoyed having the opportunity to write things out instead of always working on screens. Moving away from technology, even briefly, has encouraged more face-to-face collaboration and discussion. Students now share strategies more openly, explain their reasoning to one another, and express their ideas with greater confidence. These moments of interaction have helped build both academic understanding and classroom community.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our current lessons and projects, these resources will remain an essential part of our learning process. Students are using writing as a tool to reflect, problem-solve, and communicate their thinking more clearly. Thanks to your support, my classroom has become a space where students feel empowered to collaborate, express themselves, and truly engage with the learning process. Because of your generous donation, we were able to add 10 cameras to our art room. With the recent Texas cell phone ban, documenting student progress, process, experimentation, revisions, and final artworks has become increasingly challenging—especially in a content area that places such a strong emphasis on celebrating the artistic process. These cameras have made an immediate and meaningful difference in our classroom.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting outcomes of this project was the genuine fascination and enthusiasm students showed while working with digital cameras. It was incredibly rewarding to hear students say, \"Now I want my own!\" Although many of our students have grown up with cameras built into their phones, using a designated device specifically for photography created a new level of curiosity. Students loved collaborating in groups, experimenting with angles and lighting, and documenting their creative work.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and for providing our students with new technology and meaningful learning experiences. During intervention time, students use the headphones to watch tutorial videos for math support and core content reinforcement without distractions. In Biology class, the headphones allow students to fully engage with lab simulations, phenomenon-based videos, and interactive activities that help bring complex biological processes to life. Having clear audio has helped students better understand what they are observing and connect it to what we are learning in class.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting aspects of the headphones for students is the independence they provide. Students can pause, rewind, and replay videos at their own pace, which has been especially helpful during independent work time. The headphones are also essential for text-to-speech accommodations when students are reading scientific articles or completing assessments. Several students who struggle with reading comprehension or need accessibility supports have become more confident and focused, knowing they can access content in a way that works best for them.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for my students. These headphones have removed barriers to learning and allowed students to fully participate, stay engaged, and build confidence in their abilities.
