My first grade students were able to receive flexible seating, that they absolutely adore! This little reading area is used throughout the day for a variety of purposes. The flexible seating provides my students with another place to do small group work, to privately read or sit during independent work time.\r\n\r\nThe other manipulatives received through this donation have been using as Morning Bin options. When students trickle into the classroom in the morning, they are able to play with the bins in the morning. The purpose of morning bins has several benefits. One benefit is it creates an opportunity for students to enter the building and play with other children; something that sets their day up for success by having positive peer interactions. Another benefit is that students have the ability to build and be creative. Children are often on technology throughout their days. This is a hands-on, brain engaging activity that allows children the flexibility and creativity to just build. Lastly, these hands-on activities allow for fine-motor practice. Allowing children the opportunity to play with little toys allows them the opportunity to engage their fine-motor muscles which will build muscle in their fingers and hands which in turn will increase stamina when it is time to write. \r\n\r\nThank you for your support with this project.
