Washington Academy Elementary School, I would like to express our sincere gratitude for your generous donation to support our school garden. This donation has had a significant impact on our school community already by fostering a love of plants and growing food.\r\n\r\nOur school serves approximately 240 students in an inner city charter school in New Haven, many of whom have never seen where vegetables come from. With your support, we have created 3 robust outdoor learning areas for our kindergarten through grade 4 students.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this grant will be far-reaching. By increasing knowledge and skills related to food growth, you have helped us expose students to information they might never have had access to, allowed them the opportunity to grow and eat their own food, and inspired them to grow food in their own spaces, such as on their front stoops and balconies.\r\n\r\nYour investment in our school garden will not only enhance our students' educational experience, but also empower teachers with better resources to enrich their instruction by adding outdoor learning. It will create a lasting legacy of learning, helping to bridge the educational gap for students who may not have access to these resources at home. \r\n\r\nThrough your donation and others we have created an outdoor classroom area with benches, six raised bed gardens with vegetables, and a pollinator garden with butterfly puddlers to attract native pollinators. This is an amazing accomplishment considering that at the beginning of the school year we had two patches of weeds and trash. In addition, we were able to establish a school afterschool garden club where students meet weekly in the spring and fall and plant, weed, water, and harvest our gardens. The peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, and lettuce were shared with families and staff.\r\n\r\nWe truly appreciate your commitment to education and STEM learning, and we thank you for your generous donation to our school garden. We sincerely thank you for helping us to create a vibrant and dynamic outdoor learning environment for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1745421701167,"projectUrl":"project/btwa-school-garden-2025/9151873/","projectTitle":"BTWA School Garden 2025","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. O'Donnell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2356430_orig.jpg?crop=640,640,x163,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736251223461","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2356430"},{"teacherId":2356430,"projectId":9056770,"letterContent":"On behalf of Booker T.
