My students get to explore the world through the atlases and the books unlock several keys for them.\r\nStudents like to look through the atlases imagining places they can visit or places they have heard of. It sparks their creativity and their dreams.\r\nAfter they look through and imagine, I guide them through how to use an atlas. We start with a scavenger hunt where I challenge them to find specific information in the atlas. As I teach students who have learning disabilities, having access to quality, high-interest reading materials is the first step in helping these students learn to love to read. It is so important for my students to have materials they can relate with, and I have received great feedback so far from the students as for how they are enjoying the books. \r\n\r\nAs soon as the books arrived, students were very excited to look through the box together as a class and see what they will get to read in the class in the future. While many students in my classes do not currently enjoy reading due to their disabilities, I have seen students strive to continue reading their books during class because they are genuinely interested in them! My classroom now has a mini library in it for students to choose from, and this has made such a significant impact not only on my students but on me as a new teacher.
