The biggest impact I noticed is when it came to participating in our novel studies in class. Students who were hesitant to read, complete assignments, or even open the book suddenly became more engaged and participatory it it meant that they could use the floor seats that were donated. This meant an improvement in their grades, and overall attitude because they no longer felt behind and were more motivated to learn and work.\r\nThe desk pedals were also a fantastic asset to our classroom environment with students using them during silent, independent work time. These students were able to stay quiet and focused because they were still moving and active. During testing time, I noticed that many students gravitated towards them because staying silent and having limited access to activities during that state mandated testing environment was difficult. Having the desk pedals allowed them to move and be active without being disruptive.\r\nWith the generous donations given to our classroom, I have seen our more reluctant students become more motivated, better equipped to manage their own classroom behaviors, and seen them take ownership of their learning by advocating for themselves so that they are able to find ways to best succeed in the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1744902586391,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-and-fidget-friendly-classroom/9146711/","projectTitle":"Flexible and Fidget Friendly Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mittel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3573717_orig.jpg?crop=1461,1461,x405,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1565790903212","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3573717"},{"teacherId":9781346,"projectId":8832652,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donations!\r\n\r\nToday was out first \"game day\" and it was so satisfying to have students not beg me to get on phones or laptops. You fully funding this project has given our students novels that we desperately needed in order to teach our ELA units. Now, rather than having to partner up and share novels in class, our students can have a novel of their own in class to close read and analyze. \r\n\r\nThe novels that our 6th graders needed were novels that played into our Coming of Age unit which is crucial, but can be a difficult concept. With novels that the students are engaged in and excited about, it makes teaching our ELA standards so much more enjoyable and accessible. The same can be said of the novels bought for our 7th grade classrooms, as these novels have been carefully curated and chosen based on how they excite our students about the standards we are teaching in our classrooms.\r\n\r\nWe are especially excited about how these books will support the curriculum, fostering a rich, engaging experience for our students as they explore new ideas and perspectives. It will also contribute to creating a classroom environment where curiosity and learning are prioritized.","fullyFundedDate":1726152711930,"projectUrl":"project/were-out-of-books-and-need-your-help/8723234/","projectTitle":"We're Out of Books and Need Your Help!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mittel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3573717_orig.jpg?crop=1461,1461,x405,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1565790903212","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3573717"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_64683","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":739,"numTeachers":53,"percentFrplEligible":29,"percentAsian":20,"percentBlack":21,"percentWhite":34,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":15,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":73.3,"schoolId":64683,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Bonnie Branch Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Bonnie Branch Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maryland/howard-county-public-school-system/bonnie-branch-middle-school/64683"}
