The pencils are a wonderful way to help students manage as they are learning to write and the crayons have been instrumental in helping students develop their tri-finger grasp for pencils. \r\nIt is wonderful to have a plethora of pencils so each set of shared materials has plenty of pencils for each student to use throughout the day. \r\nI appreciate your willingness to support the multiple boxes of crayons, too. This allows for each set to be used at a table, meaning each table has more than one of each color. This helps as students are learning to share and take turns, even when working on the same project. \r\nI was introduced to both these tools by the OT at my school and now that I have discovered the, they will always be part of my tool box for educating young learners.","fullyFundedDate":1728116153559,"projectUrl":"project/fine-motor-skills-rock/8610266/","projectTitle":"Fine Motor Skills Rock!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stepp","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2634671_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1454883291106","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2634671"},{"teacherId":3664713,"projectId":8484954,"letterContent":"So far this year, we've read \"The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane,\" and it has been an incredible experience for my students. With the help of these book sets, they've been able to follow along in their own copies, which has helped them develop fluency skills and return to the text to find evidence to support their thinking. Through this story, my students learned and applied \"Notice and Note\" reading strategies to analyze the characters and themes on a deeper level. They also explored big ideas like love, unconditional care, and empathy - lessons that extend beyond the classroom and into their own lives as they learn about themselves and others. The students especially loved that the story was told from the perspective of a toy rabbit, which made for engaging and thoughtful discussions. \r\n\r\nAs we continue reading this year, we'll be diving into \"Inside Out and Back Again\" and \"Other Words for Home,\" two powerful novels in verse that will give students an important perspective on the Vietnam War and Syrian refugees. Given today's global climate, these books will help my students develop greater empathy and understanding for the experiences of others. Since they are written in verse, having their own copies will be invaluable for rereading and unpacking the rich figurative language woven throughout the text. \r\n\r\nYour support has made reading more accessible, engaging, and meaningful for my students. These books have not only strengthened their comprehension and critical thinking skills and enriched their reading experiences but also encouraged them to see the world - and themselves - in new ways that go beyond the pages. Thanks to your support, we now have a collection of books in our counseling room that will make a significant difference in the lives of the students we serve.\r\n\r\nHaving books that represent the diverse identities, experiences, and needs of our students is incredibly impactful. These stories allow students to see themselves reflected in the pages, fostering a sense of belonging and validation. For many of our students, these books offer not just a window into different perspectives, but a mirror that helps them understand and embrace their own unique journeys.\r\n\r\nYour kindness is helping create a space where every student feels heard, understood, and valued. The counseling room is now a place where they can find comfort, insight, and empowerment through literature.
