As a first-year teacher, I had no recess toys at all. With the warm weather slowly fading and the colder months approaching, I knew I had to find some enrichment for my students during their free time, and your donation has done exactly that!\r\n\r\nMy students beg to stay indoors most days to play with the board games or indoor recess toys. Don't let that fool you, they bring the outside toys with us every day we go outside. I have a very active group of students who love being outside. Being able to provide enrichment to them on the playground not only cuts down on the behavior issues we might see during unstructured recess, but also provides their childhood with imagination and whimsy. \r\n\r\nAs our packages were being delivered to school, I would surprise the students by putting a few on our back table while they were out of the room, and we would do an \"unboxing\" together. They were right there with me as I opened each package, and each \"wow\" got louder! They loved being able to be a part of the process and were very excited to be able to write thank-you notes as well.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of our first-grade hearts, we say THANK YOU TO OUR DONORS FOR OUR INCREDIBLE RECESS TOYS!","fullyFundedDate":1753285337647,"projectUrl":"project/from-classroom-floors-to-playground-door/9391344/","projectTitle":"From Classroom Floors to Playground Doors","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mace","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10048533"},{"teacherId":5854788,"projectId":9204974,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my project! I had few objects for them to explore and play, which is the best way for learning language Researchers show that it takes 400 repetitions for a concept to be learned unless it is done in play. The children learn much faster and the words they are presented with are more meaningful when they are holding a toy horse for example, versus looking at a picture. The little one I work need that tactile feedback and multidimensional object to understand. I have a little one who had referred to all animals with four legs as a horse. Since we have more animal toys to get out and really explore, he can finally tell which is a horse and which is a sheep! We still have a ways to go but making progress! \r\nI must say that even my bigger kids have thoroughly enjoyed the new toys. Even one of the older students loves the baby doll and he is saying so many more words when he gets the doll out. It is so fun seeing the kids reactions and the smiles while they are exploring the new materials. \r\nWe have been able to do more activities and the kids are excited to come to class. The only downside is that they won't leave when their time is up! \r\nThank you!
