When the snacks first arrived, students immediately noticed. Their eyes lit up as they spotted the organized bins of treats, and many asked, \"Are these really for us?\" That moment alone showed how meaningful this project truly is. A simple snack tells students: You matter. Your learning matters. You are cared for here.\r\nWe've been using the snacks during lessons, small‑group activities, and independent reading time, and the impact has been remarkable. Students settle more quickly, participate more willingly, and stay focused longer. One student who often struggles with motivation chose a snack, curled up with a book, and said quietly, \"This helps me focus.\" That day, he finished a whole book for the first time and proudly shared his success. Snacks have also encouraged more library visits and helped create a calm, inviting environment where even hesitant learners feel safe enough to ask questions, participate, and take academic risks.\r\nBeyond boosting engagement, this project supports positive behavior and promotes equity. Students appreciate the small acknowledgment when snacks are used as rewards for kindness, effort, or participation. For those experiencing hunger, fatigue, or anxiety, having access to a nourishing treat can be the difference between disengaging and being ready to learn. As we continue with independent reading goals, book talks, and our growing \"Starbooks\" reading café experience, your support continues to enrich every moment. Thank you for believing in our students and helping us build a library that truly feeds both minds and hearts.","fullyFundedDate":1757683166139,"projectUrl":"project/support-our-library-fuel-young-minds/9653226/","projectTitle":"Support Our Library, Fuel Young Minds!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bielewicz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8054063_orig.jpg?crop=1058,1058,x29,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1631133396175","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8054063"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_122797","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":675,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":53,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":72,"percentWhite":8,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":11,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":39.2,"schoolId":122797,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Belair K-5 School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Belair K-5 School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/richmond-county-school-system/belair-k-8/122797"}
