Climate change is such a relevant topic, especially now with all of the severe weather we are experiencing all across the United States. This book will help the students make real world connections to climate change by being able to see actual events that are caused by climate change through the eyes of children that are similar in age. In addition to making real world connections, the students will be able to understand that there are so many effects of climate change and that it is impacting all of us. \r\n\r\nIn my classroom, we will spend a few weeks listening to the audiobook while following along with the physical books. This will help ALL learners be able to read and follow along with the story, especially our English Language Learning students. While listening to the audiobook, we will stop and have discussions about what the characters are experiencing and discuss some possible solutions on what we could do, as a society, to help mitigate some of the effects of climate change. \r\n\r\nAll of my students are excited about being able to read a book that relates to our current unit of study. I've talked this project up to them in the hopes that it would get funded and we would be able to use it. They have heard good things about how interesting the book is, and a few of them couldn't wait to get the books in to start reading it. They checked out both copies that the school library had so that they could get a head start on it. These were some of my more reluctant readers, so that has been so inspiring to see that this project and talking about this book has encouraged reluctant readers to read. \r\n\r\nMy students and I want to thank you, again, for donating to make this project happen. We appreciate it so much. Without you, this reading experience would not be possible.","fullyFundedDate":1746808345997,"projectUrl":"project/two-degrees-a-classroom-set-of-books/9257818/","projectTitle":"\"Two Degrees\" - A Classroom Set of Books","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Workman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9036478_orig.jpg?crop=360,360,x0,y87&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683659603025","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9036478"},{"teacherId":6638747,"projectId":8500594,"letterContent":"Our new clothing closet has made an immediate impact with our students. The new clothing closet expands what was just a few bins in an office to multiple shelves, clothing racks, shoe displays and organized bins for tons of clothing items. Students and staff used to have to dig through large bins of clothes that were just tossed in to find sizes and styles but now things are organized by size and on hangers for ease in finding things. We also have a much larger variety of things now that we have space and shelves, etc. for organizing. We can accept more and more donations in order to better serve our students. We have dress clothes, pajamas, dress shoes, nicer blouses, and many more jackets and hoodies due to the increase in space and shelving/racks. Students love coming in and shopping and to see them excited to get new things has been a joy. We have many students below the poverty level and this helps them and their families as well.
