These books aren't just for reading—they are tools for building skills such as identifying theme, analyzing character development, making text-to-self and text-to-world connections, and expanding vocabulary in authentic contexts. Students are also learning to ask more in-depth questions, annotate their thoughts, and participate in discussions that enhance comprehension and critical thinking.\r\n\r\nSome of the most heartwarming reactions have come from students who previously struggled to find books that truly interested them. One reluctant reader discovered a new favorite series from the donated books and now begs for extra time to read each day. Another student, who is an avid animal lover, lights up whenever a nonfiction animal text is on our reading table, sharing fun facts with the whole class. These moments show that the right book can be a turning point in a child's reading journey.","fullyFundedDate":1746785314251,"projectUrl":"project/the-sequel/9230657/","projectTitle":"The Sequel","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nancy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5264273"},{"teacherId":5264273,"projectId":9038135,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our classroom has been buzzing with excitement! The new resources have quickly become a part of our daily learning. We've used them for everything from small-group reading instruction to interactive whole-class lessons.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the room lit up with energy. Students were curious, asking, \"Is this for us?\" and \"Can we start right now?\" They couldn't wait to open the boxes, explore, and share with their classmates. That joy has carried over into their work — they are more engaged, collaborative, and eager to contribute.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're moving into a project that will build on these skills — students will work in research teams to explore real-world problems, develop solutions, and present their findings. The resources you've provided will help them access information, organize their ideas, and create polished, professional presentations.","fullyFundedDate":1742918534312,"projectUrl":"project/projects-in-the-making/9038135/","projectTitle":"Projects in the Making","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nancy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5264273"},{"teacherId":5264273,"projectId":8898519,"letterContent":"In this fast-paced electronic world, I love to think that the art of reading books is not dead. Even in the 4th and 5th grades, students still love for books to be read to them. It often leads to having excellent discussions after the reading is done. \r\n\r\nHaving access to Lawn Boy Returns means so much to my 4th-grade class. They were very shy to read aloud at the beginning of the year, but after reading Lawn Boy (original), they are no longer shy. This book has turned my class around. I heard many students even wish they made a movie out of it.","fullyFundedDate":1735150964647,"projectUrl":"project/lawn-boy-returns/8898519/","projectTitle":"Lawn Boy Returns","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nancy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5264273"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_17091","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":217,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":86,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":37,"percentWhite":53,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":22.7,"schoolId":17091,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about South Perry Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"South Perry Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/mississippi/perry-county-school-district/beaumont-elementary-school/17091"}
