Some of the supplies we have been able to use right away: the white board markers, glue sticks, number line boards, and highlighters. It's been so nice to actually be supplied with these items and be able to check for their understanding, highlight important information, and glue interactive science notebook pages into their notebooks. \r\n\r\n Yesterday, was a really wonderful memory for me and my students. We were using the number line boards to discuss positive and negative numbers and the boards helped the student visualize that the larger the negative number the smaller it actually is. Their minds were blown! The students were shocked because typically the larger the number the more it's worth (where negatives are opposite). At the end of the lesson I had them put three numbers in order from least to greatest... -3, -1, and 0. I walked around the room and over 2/3rds of the class had it written correctly showing that they were able to apply the knowledge that they learned during class. These days make me realize that with the right tools any child can learn something new and It's crazy how smart these kids are! \r\n\r\nI can't wait until we get further in the year to use my protractors and compasses because I think these will give the students a more concrete way to learn the material.
