I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of book sets to my Special Education classroom. Your contribution has made an incredible difference in the lives of my students.\r\n\r\nPrior to your donation, we did not have access to sets of student-preferred chapter books at the 1st and 2nd-grade levels. My students often struggle with reading, and finding motivation has been a constant challenge. Having books that genuinely interest them provides a much-needed incentive to engage in reading.\r\n\r\nYour donation has opened the door to reading for many students. The joy and excitement that filled the room when we opened the boxes of books brought tears to my eyes. I cannot express my gratitude enough for inspiring my students and giving them the desire to read, which is truly half the battle.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your kindness and support. You have made a lasting impact on our classroom, and we are deeply appreciative.","fullyFundedDate":1740699916253,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-potential-accessible-books-fo/9064559/","projectTitle":"Unlocking Potential: Accessible Books for Special Education Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Moser","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9897288"},{"teacherId":9829769,"projectId":8927825,"letterContent":"This was such a generous and gracious donation. It has already blessed and impacted so many of my students. Before this donation, about one-third of my class owned their own pair of headphones. Even those who owned their one would often break and need a replacement. It would cause much distraction in the class because they couldn't focus on their work due to the distraction of the sounds from their Chromebooks. Now that everyone has their own pair, I can provide every student the best opportunity to focus and eliminate distractions. While also providing materials to those whose families can't afford them. I'm so grateful for this donation and have seen such an improvement in my management and their progress with their technology work! Thank you.","fullyFundedDate":1738183487598,"projectUrl":"project/technology-support/8927825/","projectTitle":"Technology Support","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ward","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9829769"},{"teacherId":3620643,"projectId":8927815,"letterContent":"My classroom is so much calmer when we are using technology. With the 16 pair of headphones this donors choose gave me, along with the headphones a handful of students brought from home...everyone has a pair of headphones if we are on technology time all at once. No one is being bothered by someone else's sound, and I think that is wonderful.\r\nThe cart this donors choose gave is perfect for all of our new class headphones, as well as some noise canceling headphones our room already had. The headphones and cart have given my class a good reason to talk about treating our tools nicely and to try and make them last.\r\nThank you so much for you donation, it is definitely making a difference in my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1731417105332,"projectUrl":"project/can-you-hear-that-no-i-am-wearing-he/8927815/","projectTitle":"Can You Hear That? It has already impacted so many of our students! Our articulation students are so excited to have so many new games to choose from when doing articulation drill work. The favorite games of the younger kids are the Pop Up Mario game and the I Spy Dig In & Find It game. Our older students often pick the Klask table hockey game. We have also used many of the games when working with students with expressive and receptive language delays. We have used the Guess Who games to target question formulation and verbal description skills, and the I Spy Dig In game with student working on processing verbal directions and linguistic concepts (e.g., \"Instead of a yellow fish, find a green hat.\" or \"Before you find a red airplane, find a blue cat\"). The students have also been very motivated by all the new fun options in our prize box, which is helping them to keep working hard on their communication goals. As our Speech Therapy students improve their articulation and language skills, we see it directly impact their ability to communicate effectively with their teacher and peers in the classroom, understand classroom instruction, and participate in classroom discussion. I am a first year teacher and so getting all of the wonderful resources that I would love to have can be a struggle but with your generous donation I was able to have these fantastic social-emotional resources in my class. The Little Spot books are designed in such a child-friendly way that it makes me easy for my kindergartners to relate to the characters and begin to understand all of the complex emotions we may feel in our daily lives, and most importantly that emotions aren't good or bad, they just are. \r\n\r\nEach week we focus on a different emotion or attitude and my students look forward to Mondays when I pull a different book to focus on. The first set of books is my favorite as it talks about emotions such as anger, sadness, and anxiety which are all big emotions that we all can feel. What I especially love is that these books teach about different coping strategies for each of these emotions - a skill that I think is crucial to teach these children at a young age. These books have been super impactful for my class in that my students are adapting the language from the books to their daily vocabulary. They will say things to me like \"My sadness spot is really big right now\" or \"I'm feeling angry and I need to make my anger spot smaller.\" \r\n\r\nThank you again for helping me and my students learn about emotions and how to manage and self-regulate!","fullyFundedDate":1724545441605,"projectUrl":"project/little-spot-books-to-teach-emotions/8645468/","projectTitle":"Little Spot Books to Teach Emotions","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hunsaker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9627682"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42890","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":531,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":15,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":80,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":72.5,"schoolId":42890,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Barratt Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Barratt Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/alpine-school-district/barratt-elementary-school/42890"}
