Because of your support, our middle school students now have access to an exciting collection of history-infused strategy games like Catan, History Trivia, Azul, Scythe, Senet, and Marvel Splendor. Your gift has brought joy, curiosity, and meaningful connection into our classroom in ways that are already transforming how students experience history.\r\n\r\nFrom the moment the games arrived, the students were eager to explore them. Their faces lit up as they unpacked each box, and before long our room was filled with the sound of laughter, discussion, and genuine excitement. These games have quickly become a highlight of their week. The collaborative spirit that emerges during gameplay has created a classroom atmosphere where every student feels welcome and motivated.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has given them opportunities they simply don't have anywhere else. Many of our students do not have access to strategy or historical games at home, so this classroom collection allows them to experience a type of learning that is both intellectually rich and emotionally supportive. The games encourage teamwork, patience, and strategic thinking while also opening windows into different cultures, time periods, and systems of thought. Watching students immerse themselves in these challenges has been one of the most rewarding experiences of the year.\r\n\r\nPerhaps the most meaningful impact is how inclusive and empowering these experiences have been. Students who are often quiet in traditional lessons suddenly shine as leaders and strategists. Those who struggle with reading or writing find confidence through pattern recognition, teamwork, and decision-making. With each turn, they build not only historical understanding but also skills that will serve them far beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nNone of this would be possible without you. Your support has given our students a joyful, creative, and intellectually engaging way to learn. You have helped them discover that history is not just something they read about. It is something they can explore, question, and experience together.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our classroom and for choosing to invest in our students' growth. Your generosity will continue to impact many students for years to come, and we are deeply grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1755608556598,"projectUrl":"project/history-games/9382980/","projectTitle":"History Games!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6833860_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737558141381","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6833860"},{"teacherId":10230694,"projectId":9663529,"letterContent":"I initially started with just four students in the club, forming a single D&D tabletop group using the D&D Essentials Kit. Since then, the club has grown to 12 students forming two tabletop campaign groups. The other games have been used outside of club activities as there has been such enthusiasm for D&D that the students in the club have been less interested in alternatives.\r\n\r\nThe first table set up had my students brimming with excitement as they had not previously played D&D or had only experienced it by proxy with through spectating their parents' games. The next steps for this club will likely involve adding paraphernalia such has a dice tower, dungeon tiles, or miniatures to enhance the play experience. Though if the club gets much larger we may have to pivot to other games in order to give everyone more equitable access and participation as D&D groups get unwieldly past 5-6 players per group.","fullyFundedDate":1756925996660,"projectUrl":"project/afterschool-tabletop-gaming-board-games/9663529/","projectTitle":"Afterschool Tabletop Gaming: Board Games for Grades 5-8","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Rachels","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10230694_orig.jpg?crop=1906,1906,x55,y173&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756816139970","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10230694"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_54507","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":148,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":47,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":92,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":56.5,"schoolId":54507,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Barnet School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Barnet School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/vermont/caledonia-central-su-9/barnet-school/54507"}
