From the moment the students saw the new resources, their excitement was contagious—there were smiles, questions, and an eagerness to jump right in and explore. The magnetic tiles, Geostix, and building blocks have quickly become favorites during both structured STEM time and independent exploration. One memorable moment was watching a small group of students work together to design and build a \"city,\" using the magnetic tiles and Brain Flakes. They collaborated, problem-solved, and proudly shared their creations with the class, demonstrating both creativity and teamwork.\r\n\r\nThe hands-on math tools, like the ten-frame set and the ice cream counting activity, have been especially impactful during our math instruction. Students who previously struggled to stay engaged are now actively participating, using the materials to physically represent numbers, count, and solve problems. The sorting rocks and snap cubes have supported fine motor development while also reinforcing patterns, sorting, and early engineering skills. Additionally, the sensory tools have provided important support for students who need help with self-regulation, allowing them to stay focused and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, we are able to continue building a classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and confidence. As we move forward, students will be using these materials in more structured STEM challenges, collaborative projects, and differentiated math lessons. These resources are not just tools—they are opening doors for deeper understanding and joyful learning experiences every day. Thank you again for investing in our students and making these moments possible.","fullyFundedDate":1767229884042,"projectUrl":"project/building-brilliance-hands-on-learning-f/9692955/","projectTitle":"Building Brilliance: Hands-On Learning for Bright Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Shelly Ledford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6788020_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683152887597","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6788020"},{"teacherId":3205443,"projectId":9660309,"letterContent":"Our 2nd grade classroom has been using our new alternative seating every single day, and it has truly transformed the way students learn and engage. During our literacy block, students choose seating that helps them focus best while working in small groups or independently. One memorable moment was during writing workshop when several students who typically struggle to stay engaged were able to remain focused for the entire lesson while using wobble stools and floor seats. It was exciting to see them take ownership of their learning in a way that felt comfortable and empowering.\r\n\r\nWhen students first walked in and saw the new seating options, their faces lit up with excitement. They were eager to try each option and took the responsibility of using the materials appropriately very seriously. After the initial excitement, they quickly settled into routines and began making thoughtful choices about where they learn best.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue using the seating during collaborative projects, including our upcoming opinion writing unit and small-group reading work. The next step is helping students reflect on how their seating choices affect their focus and productivity so they can become even more independent learners.
