When the students first saw the new materials arrive, their faces lit up with pure excitement. They were thrilled to realize that they would finally be able to engage in hands-on learning rather than simply watching someone else perform experiments on a YouTube screen. This gift has truly transformed our classroom from a place of observation into a hands-on laboratory where students can learn through direct experience.\r\n\r\nWe have already put these resources to excellent use across several different subjects. In chemistry, we used the bowls and spatulas for a \"Baking Lab\" where students made brownies in a cup to study chemical reactions. We also used the hot water boiler to create homemade clay from flour, which served as a perfect medium for an Earth Science lesson on plate tectonics. By manipulating the warm clay, students were able to visualize how the Earth's crust shifts and moves. Beyond the curriculum, these tools helped us build a stronger classroom community; just before the winter break, we used the boiler to host a \"noodle party,\" which was a wonderful way for the students to celebrate their hard work.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we have many more plans to keep these tools in constant rotation. Our next major project involves using the metal bowls to investigate heat transfer, specifically testing how different materials and temperatures can affect the rate at which food thaws. We also plan to use the boiler for future labs on phase changes and solubility, and the spatulas will be essential for any experiment requiring precise mixing. Because of your support, my students are no longer just reading about science... they are doing it. We are deeply grateful for your investment in our education.","fullyFundedDate":1763494159229,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-science-real-world-physics-and/9886743/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Science: Real World Physics and Culinary Chemistry","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Vu","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10347178"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_91550","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":844,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":83,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"21.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":91550,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ball Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ball Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/anaheim-union-high-school-district/ball-junior-high-school/91550"}
