These materials have definitely made a positive impact for students across my district. As I stated in my initial request, I planned to distribute materials to some of my fellow teachers and students in various schools. I was able to share the foam dice with my fellow teachers at First State School and Marbrook Elementary! The pencils have been used by students in The John Dickinson School, Conrad Schools of Science, Baltz Elementary, Marbrook Elementary, and Cooke Elementary. \r\n\r\nI have been able to use the Spanish language materials to teach Spanish literacy to a student at The John Dickinson school. We have also played games with the flashcards and matching sounds and letters! He had a lot of fun with the fly-swatting game. The behavior ring cards have been shared with teachers who work with a kindergarten friend and they are so grateful for the added ability to communicate with him. \r\n\r\nAs you can see in the pictures, students in my class had a great time using the post-it notes to label items in the classroom. The ability to use these materials for both English and Spanish literacy support have been a game-changer. Students who had been reluctant to participate have increased their engagement and willingness to share in the classroom. \r\n\r\nI've been reading The Writing Revolution 2.0 and The Writing Rope, which have helped me develop stronger writing lessons for my students. In my next units I am planning to use the Post-it flags to annotate more difficult text and the story sequencing cards to develop students' own story-telling skills. I am also using the foam dice to support engaging discussions among students. I was able to get an easel for our whole group area and word mapping dry erase paddles to use during small group. The easel for whole group allows all students to receive the Tier 1 phonics instruction and highlights our target sound/concept/high frequency words. It is magnetic and erasable so I am able to model letter formation, spelling words, mapping heart words, and writing sentences. It also allows me to organize all the materials that we need for whole group, so there is no learning loss! We have used the dry erase mapping paddles to segment and write words during small group.\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited to walk into the classroom and see the new easel! They were all excited to come over to the small group table and use the word mapping paddles. They help make learning fun and interesting and they get excited to practice spelling words!\r\n\r\nIn Kindergarten, we are continuing to learn our letters and sounds to segment, build, write, and read CVC words. Your kindness has already made a meaningful impact on my students, who were thrilled to explore the new stories and topics now available to them. The students have been able to do multiple novel studies and are so eager to do more as the year continues. Students have been able to work independently in reading, holding each other accountable for their reading, and showing me their understanding of the books. They love being within their group and supporting each other with their reading.\r\n\r\nWe are truly grateful for your support and belief in the importance of literacy and education. Because of you, our classroom library is a more engaging, inclusive, and inspiring place for students to learn and grow. While our donors may be used to tablets and laptops, in my room the most powerful learning tool is often a granola bar or fruit snack at just the right moment.
