Their confidence soared as they realized that mistakes aren't failures- they're part of the process. \r\nThe STEM materials also became a powerful motivational tool during the school day. Students understood that when they worked hard and stayed focused during class time, they would have the opportunity to use the materials afterward. This incentive helped strengthen their management skills, time awareness and responsibility.\r\nFor my youngest learners this opened a new opportunity to practice social skills. While building they practiced taking turns, sharing ideas, listening to one another, using kind words and collaborating. Students now take ownership of our classroom by making certain chairs are put up, large debris is off the floor, and that our vaccuum can safely run at the end of the day.
