This contributed to a foundation of good behavior that will be a positive influence on our whole school year. When they finally got to begin buying rewards during the second week of school, excitement was high, and students were especially delighted with the Woot Woot wagon, our rolling prize store. \r\n\r\nAs the weeks have continued, students are learning that they must continue good behavior if they want to continue earning Critter Coins- this is especially helpful as behavior tends to \"slide\" as the year goes on. Students who have had office or bus referrals do not participate in our monthly house day party for the houses that met their point goal, which helps reinforce that poor choices have unpleasant consequences. \r\n\r\nStudents are also learning other important lessons. Many are learning to save their coins for bigger rewards (it's hard for 1st graders to wait!), and many are choosing alternative rewards in addition to the prizes from the wagon: experience-type rewards like bringing a stuffed animal to class, using the teacher's chair for the day, or having lunch with the teacher in the classroom. \r\n\r\nThe first grade teachers and students are so grateful for your donations! Because of you, students are more motivated and we can spend more time learning, and they feel so proud of their accomplishments every time they get to spend their Critter Coins!","fullyFundedDate":1753092711958,"projectUrl":"project/ales-first-grade-house-incentive-system-/9473944/","projectTitle":"ALES First Grade house incentive system- five houses, one family!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Funkhouser","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10082711_orig.jpg?crop=297,297,x41,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752765799654","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10082711"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_40186","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":692,"numTeachers":44,"percentFrplEligible":79,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":72,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":79.5,"schoolId":40186,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ashby - Lee Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ashby - Lee Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/virginia/shenandoah-county-public-schools/ashby-lee-elementary-school/40186"}
