We've been incorporating them into daily activities, whether it's exploring textures with sensory bins, practicing fine motor skills with tactile tools, or using calming items during quiet time. One of my favorite moments was watching a group of students work together at the water table, using the stools, taking turns pouring, scooping, and experimenting with of course para-educator's assistance . It was more than play, it was teamwork, language development, and problem-solving all happening at once.\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\nTheir faces lit up with curiosity and excitement. Many of them look and gone straight to the new bins and tools, eager to touch and explore. Some children who are usually shy became more engaged, and those with extra energy found a positive outlet to focus and calm themselves. The sensory tools quickly became a favorite part of our classroom routine.\r\n\r\nWhat are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?\r\nWe're now using these sensory materials to connect with our current theme on \"All About Me.\" Students are exploring how different textures, sounds, and movements make them feel, and we're building vocabulary around emotions and self-regulation. The next step is creating sensory stations that tie into our literacy and math lessons, for example, tracing letters in sand, counting with textured manipulatives, and sorting by color or shape. These resources are helping us make learning hands-on, engaging, and accessible for every child in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1752505310892,"projectUrl":"project/serenity-corner-a-safe-space-for-self-r/9222399/","projectTitle":"Serenity Corner: A Safe Space for Self-Regulation","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Booc","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9989392"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_55677","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":70,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":34,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":31,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":52,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":90.9,"schoolId":55677,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Arthur B Ingham School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Arthur B Ingham School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/monterey-county-office-of-education/arthur-b-ingham-school/55677"}
