Your support has already made a real difference in our school community. These books arrived at exactly the right time for students who have been searching for stories that feel like home.\r\n\r\nFor many of my LGBTQIA+ students, this is the first time they have seen their identities represented so openly and so positively on our shelves. Students who usually drift past the book displays without stopping now pause to flip through Queer Heroes or Young Queer America. They linger over stories like The Black Flamingo, Felix Ever After, and Girl Mans Up because they see pieces of themselves on the page. Several students have said that it feels easier to breathe in our GSA room now that the library is taking shape. They feel seen.\r\n\r\nThese books have also helped students who are still questioning their identities find language and reassurance. A student who had been quiet for weeks picked up Meet Cute Diary and later told me that it helped them understand that they were not alone. Another student who has been working through family stress connected strongly with Last Night at the Telegraph Club and said it helped them feel less isolated. Small moments like these add up to real confidence.\r\n\r\nOur allies have benefited too. Some of them have checked out titles like Pride and Joy or Queer Heroes because they want to better support their friends. These books make it easier for them to learn, ask questions, and grow in empathy.\r\n\r\nThis library is becoming a place where students feel affirmed, curious, and safe. It is also becoming a resource for staff who want to build more inclusive classrooms. Your support has helped us create something that will last far beyond this school year.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our students and for helping us give them representation, belonging, and joy. Your kindness matters more than you know.","fullyFundedDate":1762083238472,"projectUrl":"project/creating-an-lgbtqia-library/9868152/","projectTitle":"Creating an Lgbtqia+ Library","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Walsh","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10337684"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_25010","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1771,"numTeachers":124,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":32,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":54,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.7,"schoolId":25010,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Argo Community High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Argo Community High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/argo-community-high-school-district-217/argo-community-high-school/25010"}
