Students use it to search the library catalog independently, read eBooks, and safely explore research topics during library visits. It helps them build essential digital literacy and research skills in a guided, supportive environment. What excites students most is the independence the iPad gives them. They love being able to look up books they are curious about, read digital stories, and use learning apps without waiting their turn as long. Several students who are reluctant readers have been especially drawn to eBooks, while others enjoy using the catalog to track down favorite series.\r\n\r\nThis iPad has also supported classroom learning beyond the library. When a resource teacher needed to administer new testing software that only works on updated devices, the library iPad was available to support student assessments while her own device order was delayed. Matching the numbers, exploring with color pattern, and basic hand and eye coordination to connect the rocket pieces allowed students to explore math concepts in a fun way. The best way to learn is through play, and my class was learning so much with this center. Our centers were very popular as we rotated the different games for the class. Our class cannot thank all the donors enough for helping us receive these fun experiences for our students.
