Our high school students, who were resistant to playing any games the first few times they were brought out, now meet me at the door to see what I have with me! Students that complained about having to put their cell phones away are now leading the games and teaching others how to play their favorites! They may not realize it yet, but they are learning valuable problem solving and social skills that will benefit them in all aspects of their life. So far, some of their favorite group games are Buildzi, Uno, and Tapple. The top two-player game is Connect Four and Traffic Jam is the favorite solo game.\r\n\r\nThe fidgets, bubble timers, and sensory stickers have provided students with tools to help ease their anxiety and increase their focus. There is no stigma associated with asking for a fidget, all students have access to them, and \"Ms. Schwoerer's Bucket O'Fidgets\" is now something that gets passed around on test days so students can find what they need to help them focus. \r\n\r\nWe hope to continue expanding our board and card game collection based on the success from this initial investment.","fullyFundedDate":1748366938176,"projectUrl":"project/im-game-for-special-education/9143083/","projectTitle":"I'm Game for Special Education!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Schwoerer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9935775_orig.png?crop=178,178,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741181752232","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9935775"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_37986","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1327,"numTeachers":86,"percentFrplEligible":47,"percentAsian":14,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":59,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"15.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":74.4,"schoolId":37986,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Appleton East High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Appleton East High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wisconsin/appleton-area-school-district/appleton-east-high-school/37986"}
