I did not anticipate an urgency to get to math class in order to score one of our new seats, but this is exactly what started occurring. My assistant principal even noticed that I had less tardies than in the past. I also did not anticipate how our new wobble stools and floor seats would alleviate some, not all, of the arguing which can occur. As we know, middle school students want to grow up too soon and have a tendency to question and/or argue with adults and those they see in an \"authority\" role. Giving students a choice takes away the focus on the math task that they are supposed to be engaged in and I get less groans when I say \"would you prefer to stay at your table or sit on one of the floor chairs with a clipboard to work on your math?\"\r\nI did anticipate these flexible seating options would support some of our learners who struggle with focus and sitting still and I was correct. One student asked if he can be guaranteed one of the stools during class because his mom says it helps him learn when he has the ability to move slightly.\r\nI love seeing students tucked away in a corner on the floor seats working with a partner and sharing thoughts as they collaborate on the math. I teach a diverse group of learners, including many English language learners who often need extra support to grasp abstract scientific concepts. These new materials have allowed us to transform those concepts into hands-on, meaningful learning experiences that connect directly to their everyday lives.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies arrived—especially the growing system—the excitement in the classroom was palpable. For many students, it was the first time they'd ever used real science equipment. Watching them engage with the materials, ask questions, and explore the process of plant growth and reproduction has been truly inspiring. The energy and enthusiasm in the room were unforgettable.\r\n\r\nYour donation has made a lasting impact not only on our curriculum but also on our students' confidence and curiosity.
