The students look forward to earning the stickers every time they take their multiplication or division quiz. Once they have mastered the fact, they earn a sticker. The sticker is placed on a bookmark where they and their parents are able to see their progress.\r\n\r\nThe pencil sharpeners are a HUGE hit! The students love that they can sharpen their colored pencils automatically. Their handheld sharpeners would cause the pencil to keep breaking.\r\n\r\nThe erasers are magical....especially the eraser that erases colored pencils. This is especially important to the students if they make a mistake while using them. For example, if they are completing a math coloring page. They do not have to start over or color over the incorrect color. They can now just erase it.\r\n\r\nFinally, the box cutter. I will have to tell you it has made my life so much easier. I no longer need to try to 'break down' boxes using scissors.\r\n\r\nThank you! Thank you! I cannot even begin to express my gratitude for getting this project funded. Each day a new box arrived the students were so excited to open and see what new books they got. We picked one book a day to read aloud and we still have not read all the books. Not only have we been able to use them as read-alouds, but each day, every single student is able to go to our classroom library and pick one of the books to take home and read at home. \r\nHaving this much variety, and some brand new books just for them, is encouraging their love for reading and helping them find what types of books interest them. Additionally, we have been able to share with other first grade classrooms at my school site. So not only are my own students getting to read these books, but the other 80 first graders at my school are too. \r\nAs if that were not enough, these books will also be able to be used for years to come. Allowing more and more students who are in first grade just learning how to read, learn to love reading by having so many choices of books they can take home on a daily basis. We memorize the states and capitals in 5th grade. Having this engaging and artistic map has helped them achieve this learning goal. \r\nThe giant magnetic grid turned into a multiplication chart (as seen in the picture submitted). Having these items in the classroom have tremendously added to our overall classroom environment and spirit to take care of your mental and physical health. \r\n\r\nThis year, my students work on and present a project about a very important world issue that needs to be communicated to the world in a kid friendly way. One of the topics was how education affects people differently and how it can change your life. This group and the mental health awareness group were able to collaborate and work together sharing how you can take care of your mental health by taking care of your physical health. \r\n\r\nHaving access to athletic equipment like the ones that were donated in this project has been exponentially special. It has impacted our school year in more ways than just opening kids up to the joy of playing volleyball and sports. The mental health benefits are real! \r\nAnother thing I've noticed is that the mini gardens have inspired a creativity in all students. Students do not get bored working with the mini gardens. All the mini rakes, stamps, and figurines move from garden to garden and each student can change their garden from day to day.
