Since its arrival we have been laminating many of the new posters that have been created so they will be preserved. \r\nWe have also stated using it as a way to make puzzles for the students out of class work. For example, in social studies they are learning about the 13 colonies and timeline of the American Revolution. We have laminated the timeline and map then cut them out for the students to work with. Since the pieces are now laminated they are able to manipulate them without crumpling them. \r\nAnother side advantage is they students are able to make notations on the items with dry erase makers making projects even more interactive.","fullyFundedDate":1758908337727,"projectUrl":"project/protect-my-work/9704339/","projectTitle":"Protect My Work","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Mandelbaum","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2327896_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1479221154743","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jmandelbaum"},{"teacherId":8765583,"projectId":9746755,"letterContent":"Having the PlayStation 5 available to my students has been an incredible experience. I have never heard the students \"trash talk\" in such a respectful manner. The purpose of bringing in the PlayStation 5 was to have students work on their social and emotional skills when it comes to competing with others. It has definitely served in helping students with these skills. Students say \"good game\" all the time, give each other fist bumps after playing games, and even manage to say \"I got you next time.\" The change is night and day. Losses used to turn into insults and arguments.\r\nStudents love that they are able to use a popular game system in school. It has given them a chance to show off their skills where they would not have been able to before. Most students would not play video games with each other outside of school, so this has provided an opportunity for them to do so.\r\nIn particular, students who enjoy playing and/or watching sports have warmed up to this technology. The project asked for sports-based video games, so I am not too surprised. However, there have also been students who claim they do not enjoy sports electing to try the games, so I am grateful for that.","fullyFundedDate":1758899265124,"projectUrl":"project/playstation-5-for-mindful-competitive-pl/9746755/","projectTitle":"PlayStation 5 for Mindful Competitive Play","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Cappa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8765583_orig.jpg?crop=1077,1077,x538,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1673530595320","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8765583"},{"teacherId":2327896,"projectId":9681952,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for providing my students with a new Lifetime basketball backboard and hoop. Everyone was grinning from ear to ear.\r\nSince we've had the snacks, students have been doing whatever they can to earn PBIS points. After debating about what seeds were going to be planted the students settled on tomatoes and cucumbers because they could be readily eaten once ripe. Little did we know what we were getting into, growing plants take a very long time and we started late in the year. \r\nThe seeds were planted at the beginning of May and started growing rapidly, soon the plants got very big, and we quickly realized that both chosen plants were creepers and needed something to climb. Since they were growing we pushed on. In mid-June the plants were thriving, but no vegetables yet. At the end of the school year the students decided to have the plants come home with me over the summer. It was not until mid-July that the plants finally started flowering. Using google to learn how to artificially pollinate the flowers, we finally got 3 cucumbers to grow. \r\nWith what we have learned we will try again this year, planting very early, and hoping for better results.","fullyFundedDate":1746119122754,"projectUrl":"project/lets-grow/9038801/","projectTitle":"Lets Grow!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Mandelbaum","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2327896_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1479221154743","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jmandelbaum"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_110735","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":14,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":110735,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Brooklyn West Learning Center @ Prospect Place on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Brooklyn West Learning Center @ Prospect Place","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/alternate-learning-center-at-prospect-place/110735"}
