They are beginning to read and practice making CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words using the newly printed and laminated word family house and cookie jar beginning sound sorting game!\r\n\r\nIt takes many tools to engage the students. These books have been so popular and are flying off the shelf. \r\n One of new skills in elementary library is to understand how to use non-fiction books. We learn how to use the table of contents, locate topics in the index, find pages numbers, read captions and labels, and identify bold words and learn what they mean in the glossary. While these new non-fiction books help teach the same skill as a animal or sports non-fiction books, I believe they are more engaging and create an extra opportunity to build and create with their hands and minds. \r\n Thank you again for inspiring our new home cooks, home crafters and builders to take a chance, get messy, and persevere when they try something new.","fullyFundedDate":1726585493547,"projectUrl":"project/cook-craft-and-build-it-up-with-a-good/8777157/","projectTitle":"Cook, Craft, and Build it Up With a Good Book!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hanson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9747531"},{"teacherId":9732330,"projectId":8743062,"letterContent":"Thank you so very much for your donation to my (Mrs. Sallee) class. Having this project in class has allowed me to create differentiated small group activities. These activities are hands on and help the students with their reading, writing, grammar and spelling. I have created multiple hands on learning activities for my students. Some are to help students blend sounds to create words, some help them with grammar such as learning nouns, adjectives, and verbs, Some teach students how to place words in ABC order. I have also created manipulatives for math to aide in students knowledge of addition and subtraction facts along with learning place value and telling time. Thank you so much as the students are so engaged in these hands on activities which helps them learn to their best ability and meet them where they are or challenging them.","fullyFundedDate":1725764669082,"projectUrl":"project/small-group-reading-math-learning-man/8743062/","projectTitle":"Small Group Reading & Math Learning Manipulatives","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sallee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9732330_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y1008&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759767564053","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9732330"},{"teacherId":9746846,"projectId":8811687,"letterContent":"Thank you for allowing our classroom to have a quieter space with the sliders on our chairs with our new hard surface flooring. It's so important that we make learning fun and meaningful. By instilling an early love of learning we are setting the students up to enjoy learning. The Love Every Reading Skillset helped facilitate peer coaching and engagement regarding foundational literacy skills. I had two students playing the Rhyming Tree game and while I was working with a small group I heard them engaging and self- checking each others rhymes in a meaningful and respectful way \"No that's not a rhyme they both don't say 'un' they have to both say 'un', try again\". It is truly gratifying to hear students demonstrate understanding of a concept when they feel comfortable and confident enough to teach a peer! \r\n\r\nI introduced the students to the items by having them appear suddenly at centers! They were immediately intrigued and excited! Of course they didn't want to wait for instructions and immediately dove in. For many of the literacy games the students didn't need instructions explained they figured it out and hit the ground running. \r\n\r\nAs the students learn to decode we will be moving towards encoding and using the materials purchased to develop their writing skills. The students will be encouraged to journal and write stories given a a variety of prompts. The Love Every Reading Skillset is a favorite for many and some of the students don't even realized they are learning as they participate and interact with the many teaching tools in the set.","fullyFundedDate":1727101861626,"projectUrl":"project/phonological-foundations-cultivating-a/8810142/","projectTitle":"Phonological Foundations: Cultivating A Love of Reading In Early Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chanthongthip","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9771383"},{"teacherId":9749773,"projectId":8782078,"letterContent":"Please allow me a moment to thank you for your generous donation to my classroom project, \"Paving the Way for Little Learners\". Often it is the little things that tend to make the biggest difference. For us, some of these items that seem simple to many, have had a big impact on simply making moments in our classroom run more smoothly. \r\n\r\nThe quality staplers purchased have helped me complete projects more efficiently, without having to take the time to deal with staple-jams, and the fan has helped circulate air throughout our room, making our classroom more comfortable. The kids have loved being classroom helpers with the lightweight vacuum, and I love that they're learning to clean up after themselves and to be good \"classroom citizens\". \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe set of stools have been a favorite of the students, providing seating for groups around our learning table, and the reusable dry erase plastic sleeves have reduced the need to make paper copies and are used daily. The handwriting paper has provided a wonderful visual aid in helping students as they start the writing process, showing them where their letters should start and end, and the dry erase white boards are a staple in our word working sessions each day. We know that students learn and retain material best when all their senses are involved in their learning, and the reading whisper phones, magnetic number bonds, and number stax foam stacking blocks help provide a kinesthetic aspect to their learning, allowing them to actively engage with what they are learning. The stickers and squishies and stickers have been great motivators, and the kids can't wait to work to earn towards their next reward.\r\n\r\nTo the average person, these purchases may seem mundane, but to us, they've helped to make our learning experience a good one.
