We take 20 minutes at the end of everyday for community meeting, and each week we pick a \"word of the week\" which is a character trait that we are trying to reinforce. The books you have donated help the students see the words in action and gives them ideas of how to embody the words in real life. Strong character is something that must be taught, and I am so grateful that we've made time in our day to make it a priority. I'm even more grateful that you believe it is a priority, too. Our first unit on Fables has been magical as we read stories from Aesop's classics. I'm so excited to share the books we've gotten for the human body next. Several of them immediately noticed how easy it was to pour the paint without mess.\r\n\r\nWe have already been using the paint and bottles for projects across grade levels. In kindergarten, students are exploring line painting, creating bold strokes and patterns while learning to control their brushes. In fourth grade, students are beginning their landscape paintings, and the new paint has allowed them to layer bright, smooth colors without running out or struggling with dried-up supplies. The FIFO bottles make setup and cleanup quicker, giving us more time for creativity.\r\n\r\nThe students' reaction to these resources has been pure joy. They take pride in using the new paints, and they love that the bottles let them get just the right amount. This small change has made a huge difference in keeping our classroom organized and our supplies lasting longer.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be diving into our W.O.W. (Wonderful, Original, Work of Art) projects, where students design an artwork based on meaningful words and ideas. Having fresh, high-quality paint in easy-to-use bottles means their ideas can flow onto paper without barriers.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students the chance to create with confidence. Receiving our lined paper helped us continue to work on writing our cvc words, but I was also able to start having my students write sentences on the paper. It was so much easier to be able to hand them a piece of paper, rather than having the students hand in their notebook after each lesson, or having them try and rip out the paper. When I first opened the boxes, students thought it was just something I got for myself for the room. Once they realized it was new materials that they got to have, along with use, they couldn't wait to get started on a new activity and project. With the new dry erase markers, paint, Sharpies, and felt, students have been able to create with confidence, knowing they have the materials they need to bring their ideas to life.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies arrived, my students were beyond excited! Their faces lit up as they saw the vibrant new paints and the crisp, colorful felt. One student exclaimed, \"We get to use NEW Sharpies?!\" while another eagerly asked if we could start painting right away. Having high-quality materials makes them feel like real artists, and their enthusiasm has been contagious.\r\n\r\nWe've already put these materials to great use. Recently, my first graders used the paint to create beautiful Monet-inspired pond scenes, and the new felt was perfect for adding texture to mixed-media projects. The dry erase markers have been a game-changer for sketching out ideas before committing to a final piece, helping students build confidence in their designs.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're diving into more creative projects! My kindergarteners are exploring space in art by making overlapping paper cutouts inspired by Henri Matisse. The felt will soon be used in a fabric collage project, allowing students to experiment with layering and composition.
