Our grass field has been off limits since the start of the year, so we desperately needed playground equipment to use on the blacktop. They were so surprised and excited to get old favorites and learn new games with equipment they've never used before. My class especially enjoyed the double Dutch jump ropes, the jumpsies, the Velcro balls and mitts, and the tic tac toe ball toss. \r\n\r\nWe are scheduled to have our grass field open in the near future, but the students have already asked if they can play with equipment there too. Of course, it is a YES! The emotion journals were also a big hit. They served several purposes, the first was identifying how they felt that morning and they helped to create community in our classroom.
