Many of the texts also introduce character education themes like perseverance, empathy, and integrity, which connect to our Way of the Warrior Kid character program.\r\n\r\nReading time is active and interactive. You'll see students partner-reading, jotting questions on sticky notes, using reader's notebooks to track big ideas, and participating in lively small-group discussions. Teachers model \"think-alouds,\" so children hear how a skilled reader makes predictions, notices figurative language, and connects the text to real life.\r\n\r\nElementary years are when lifelong reading habits take root. The right books give children mirrors (to see themselves) and windows (to see others).
