Your donation of hygiene products and snacks is more than just a gift of supplies—it is a gift of comfort, confidence, and opportunity. And I have to say a great bit of joy to their day as the products arrived. They were so excited with each box and could not wait to see what was inside.\r\n\r\nMany of our students are learning essential daily living skills that will help them become as independent as possible. We are a small rural school with students who come from poverty and broken families. We teach daily hygiene routines which include brushing their teeth, applying deodorant and fixing their hair. Having access to items such as deodorant, soap, toothbrushes, and other personal care products allows us to teach these routines in real-life contexts. Context that can carry over to home routines and through their lives as adults. Students are able to practice these skills with the actual materials they will use at home and in the community, helping build habits that support health, self-esteem, and social success.\r\n\r\nThe snacks you provided also play an important role in our classroom. We use them to teach functional skills such as making choices, preparing simple foods, following directions, practicing safety, and cleaning up after ourselves. We attempt to cook some type of meal daily. During the winter and delays it makes it harder. Having pre made snacks on hand makes life so much easier. The kids can still have a snack to eat without the time of cooking a whole meal. These moments become powerful learning experiences in communication, math, and independence. For some students, these shared snack times are also opportunities to develop social skills—learning to wait, share, request items appropriately, and engage with peers.\r\n\r\nYour kindness removes barriers so our students can focus on learning, growing, and feeling valued. It allows us to create a classroom environment that mirrors real life, where students gain the confidence and practical skills they need for adulthood.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of our students and staff, thank you for believing in their potential and supporting their journey toward independence. Your contribution makes a lasting difference each and every day.\r\n\r\nSo, a huge thank you from Ms. Teia, Ms Billie, Ms Theresa, Kenny, Raileen, KJ, Kyle, Clayton, Arianna, Jesse, Sarah, Josh, Joey, McKenzie and Zakarias!","fullyFundedDate":1768669022283,"projectUrl":"project/snacks-and-good-hygiene/9979604/","projectTitle":"Snacks and Good Hygiene","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Williams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9048125_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y32&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683919115136","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9048125"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_89767","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":929,"numTeachers":65,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":90,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":78.6,"schoolId":89767,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Albert Gallatin Area High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Albert Gallatin Area High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/albert-gallatin-school-district/albert-gallatin-area-high-school/89767"}
