It will go a long way this year. I used the data binder and sheets to store student growth as I confer with them, and the rest of the protector sheets went into the binder that I am using to facilitate conversations for friendship / social - emotional learing with the small groups. \r\n\r\nI have one student, and he is thrilled with the Post-it notes and wants the blue ones to draw on. He comes in and grabs 5, tucks them in his hat, and then takes them home. He is a good artist. \r\n\r\nThe cushions, as you can see in the photos, are being used well. I put them on an old bookshelf; that is where we sit. We don't have a table yet to fit into that space, but I am actually thinking that the room looks cozy enough to have conversations that I don't need to. They add a nice pop of color. I brought in my beanbags from home. \r\n\r\nThe bins are in a drawer that holds markers, pencils, and the stickers that came in the package. Thursday is water bottle sticker day! \r\n\r\nAgain, thank you. As my groups grow, the impact grows. One student was my helper and went with me to check for packages. He would then help carry them down to the room. They would all stand around me as I opened each box, anxiously waiting to see what was in each box. It was a great opportunity to work on waiting and turn taking as our new items were revealed. \r\n\r\nMy students are using these resources to help them calm down and focus to take on more learning. They sit at their desks holding the weighted fox. They sit and watch the liquid timers while they are listening to instructions. They work on their math skills while they take a break with the Legos. They follow directions and copy patterns while they enjoy time with LEGOS. They move their bodies and work on their balance with the stepping stones and liquid tiles. All of these materials have helped increase the focus and participation of my class.\r\n\r\nWe are currently working on activities to help us work as a community to take care of each other. We use it to model handwriting, our step by step directions for when students do independent work, and for putting up our journal prompt writing sentences.
