Through play, students are practicing turn-taking, empathy, and problem-solving in a safe and supportive environment. The conversation cards have sparked incredible discussions, helping students find the words for emotions they previously couldn't express.\r\nThe Sand Tray Therapy Kit: This has been one of the most powerful additions. THEY LOVE IT!!! For students who have experienced trauma or struggle to verbalize their struggles, the sand tray provides a non-threatening way to create their world and tell their story. It has given me a window into their experiences that words alone could never provide.\r\n\r\nDaily, I have students, who come to my office after conflict with a peer, relative, or teacher, and they need a space to readjust their crowns. They come in angry and withdrawn. Instead of pushing them to talk, I allow them to release their frustration into the sand tray. After a few minutes of silence, they usually begin talking. We are then able to talk about how we can reshape \"messy\" feelings and find calm again. Without this resource, that conversation may never have happened. \r\n\r\nYour donation did more than just fill a shelf with supplies; it filled our school with more resilient, self-aware, and empathetic students. The skills they are learning in the counseling office (i.e., emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and mindfulness) are directly impacting their ability to learn and succeed academically.
