As a new counselor in the building this year, I've been working to create a welcoming and safe space in my office, and these resources have made an instant difference. Students walked in and noticed the large calendar first, and several of them immediately began marking down upcoming deadlines, college application dates, and reminders for themselves. Seeing them take ownership of their schedules helped reinforce the organizational skills and routines we've been building together.\r\n\r\nThe snacks, tissues, and menstrual pads have already been life-changing in small but meaningful ways. Students now feel comfortable stopping by when they need something, and I've noticed that having these basic necessities easily available has eased a lot of stress for them. It's the difference between a student quietly struggling through class because they're hungry or worried, or being able to return to learning with confidence. Knowing that they have a trusted adult and a caring space to go to has created a stronger sense of security and belonging.\r\n\r\nThe games and stress-relief tools have also helped transform the environment. Whether it's a quick round of Mancala during lunch, an impromptu Connect 4 challenge to break the ice, or a student breathing with the expandable ball before a difficult conversation, these tools have opened up opportunities to build rapport, practice social-emotional skills, and take healthy breaks. As we move into upcoming lessons on goal-setting, time management, and emotional regulation, these resources will continue to support my students' growth. Thank you for helping me create a space where every student feels seen, supported, and encouraged.","fullyFundedDate":1755905977396,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-welcoming-counseling-office/9621933/","projectTitle":"Building a Welcoming Counseling Office","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Elysha, School Counselor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6821238_orig.jpg?crop=988,988,x139,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755560106589","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6821238"},{"teacherId":9818627,"projectId":9224826,"letterContent":"The new button making club has quickly become a beloved hub of creativity and community on campus, with the space packed with students every Monday during lunch. The excitement is palpable as students gather to transform their unique and original designs into wearable art. \r\n\r\nBeyond the pure joy of making buttons, the students are demonstrating an inspiring level of entrepreneurial spirit, with plans already underway to use the buttons to fundraise for more materials, ensuring the club can become self-sustaining. The stress of not having a way to print their work has been lifted, and I have already seen an increase in their confidence and pride in their projects.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the backpacks you helped provide have made a significant impact on students who previously struggled to carry their materials to and from school.
