My Students

Technology is becoming a huge part of any 21st century learning community. It provides students with an alternative way to learn and can make learning more interactive. When technology is integrated into lessons students enjoy them more.

Our school services around 500 kindergarten through fifth grade students.

We have a diverse learning community that includes both general education and special education students. Our community has been hit hard by the auto industry downturn. Many parents/caregivers have been laid off over the last several years. We have families in our community that are struggling to put food on the table and provide the bare necessities.

My Project

A document camera is a tool that allows whatever you put on it to be projected onto a whiteboard for the entire class to see. The projected images are true to the original. They are in color and can be zoomed to see details up close. It can be used in all subjects and in all grades. A book read aloud comes to life because students can see the book on a large screen and in full color. A science project comes to life because all students can see it up close. One class was able to watch an insect change from a pupa to an insect up close on a large whiteboard through the use of a document camera.

Having a document camera in the classroom will provide students with a different learning experience.

It will bring learning to life, get students excited about learning, and make learning more interactive.
