This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My student’s growth and development is everything to me. I love seeing my students being successful in learning standards and building on their prior knowledge. My students have special needs and are English Language Learners so it is important that I give them opportunities to learn when engaged with hands-on materials. They would benefit with added materials to our Science Center.

Knowing my student’s love for animals, I would love to add to our Science Center and give them opportunities to learn more about animals.

The five tubes of the different animals would allow children to explore the types of animals that live in the specific habitats. Students would also use the animals to sort and classify them based on their characteristics. The three sets of Magnatiles will be used for students to create habitats for the animals and show their understanding of what makes up a specific habitat. To add to the animal science materials, the footprint stones will allow students to make observations of different animal’s feet and their prints. The animal print cards will allow students to try to match the animal’s skin print to the animal and learn the characteristics of skin and why specific animals have the skin they do. The science viewer will allow children to look at real photographs of animals in a fun way. The two activity centers will allow students to classify animals based on their features, attributes, and habitat. These materials are going to make my students go WILD in the Science Center!
