My Project
My students love learning through puzzles, games, and educational learning resources during our reading and math center rotations.
We are learning about zoo animals before we build our class zoo out of modeling clay!
Our upcoming reading and science unit is all about animals and their habitats, diets, and lifespans.
The project we are doing focuses on group work and working together as a team. Each team will have an animal they are learning about and then will work together as a team to build the animal exhibit out of modeling clay.
My students have access to animal books and have been reading about each animal: tigers, elephants, penguins, sea otters, turtles, meerkats, and lemurs-- all animals at our local zoo. Soon we will begin whole group lessons teaching about each animal's habitat, diet, and fun facts about the animals and will make an anchor chart poster for it.
Once my students have learned about each animal they will build a zoo and use these animal figurines to go inside their exhibit.
It will be so exciting for my students to learn their zoo animal and create their encounter before we go to the zoo to see the animal and exhibit for their own eyes!
