it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
How will the specific items I’m requesting make a difference in student learning? The cups will provide a visual and interactive way for students to identify and express their current emotional states. Moving their names (which they have written on craft sticks with the markers) to the appropriate cup allows for self-reflection and understanding of emotions. Pillows in the SEL corner will offer a non-verbal means for students to communicate and identify their feelings without speaking, particularly benefiting non-verbal students. It creates a comfortable and safe space for emotional expression. Using Jenga with color-coded feelings corresponding to the Zones of Regulation will make the learning experience engaging. It adds a playful element to the lessons, making it easier for students to connect with and understand different emotions.
The primary goal of this project is to promote emotional intelligence and self-regulation among my students.
By introducing the Zones of Regulation to students in a hands-on and interactive way, this project aims to enhance their ability to recognize, understand, and manage their emotions effectively. Creating a safe and inclusive SEL corner with resources like pillows provides a designated space for emotional exploration and expression, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment. Incorporating games like Jenga helps reinforce the connection between colors and corresponding emotions, making the learning process enjoyable and memorable.
Every student is unique, and their individualities contribute to the richness of the learning environment. Special qualities may include diverse learning styles, various backgrounds, and unique strengths. Acknowledging and celebrating these differences fosters a sense of inclusivity and promotes a positive classroom culture.
