This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We put a popsicle stick in a "ones" bag. This bag represents the one's place. Every 10 days we rubber band the 10 sticks and move it into the "tens" bag. On this day we "celebrate" "Zero The Hero". We work on that number in math class. We investigate the place value, number concepts, skip counting, and much more. In the classroom, he would normally leave a letter with a zero shaped prize for the kids and a letter. It would magically appear (kind of like the Tooth Fairy). On the 100th day of school, we would have a huge celebration. We would do activities that revolve around 100 and Zero The Hero would leave a bunch of zero shaped prizes. I am requesting materials to foster math activities and become the "Zero The Hero" prizes.
The bubbles, pencils, pens, and erasers will be the prizes from Zero The Hero.
Party packs will be used during our 100th day of school celebration. We have a yearly 100th day of school party to acknowledge our hard work in mathematics and (all the subjects).
The beads are to make a necklace with a 100 beads on the 100th day of school.
The 100 day poster pack and sticker activities will be saved for our 100th day of school celebrations.
I ordered some Clorox Wipes to help clean up the messes.
