Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We would love to create a Calming Corner for students in our special education classroom. Our scholars are bright, creative, and diverse: we want to support the needs of our students by promoting social emotional learning, positive coping strategies, and calming techniques.

Our goal is to create a sensory calming area, along with an organized learning space, which will greatly benefit the children's ability to focus and learn effectively.

Our sensory calming area will offer a peaceful retreat where students can regroup and recharge. To achieve this, we are seeking your generous support for the following items:

Bright Autism Tap-Tap Touch Sensory Lights

– These lights will create a soothing ambiance, helping to calm the senses and reduce anxiety.

hand2mind Feelings Family Hand Puppets, 5/Set

– These puppets will be instrumental in helping children express and understand their emotions in a safe and engaging way.

hand2mind Mindful Maze Garden Pack

– This pack will encourage mindfulness and relaxation through interactive maze activities.

To create an organized and calming environment, we are seeking the following items:

– This cabinet will help keep calming and sensory materials organized and easily accessible.

Flexible seating Chair

– A comfortable chair will support in the calming area as they are able to spin and enjoy the comfort of the plush chair while using other sensory items in that area.

– These bins will assist in organizing sensory supplies and ensuring everything has its place.

AdirOffice Wooden Adjustable Literature Organizer

– This organizer will keep educational resources in order, making it easier for students and teachers to access materials.
