This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every day my students rush into my classroom excited to build our classroom community into a family. Our classroom is a safe place for them to explore learning and grow into college and career ready learners!

My students live in an area of highest poverty in Central Los Angeles and 100% of our students receive a free lunch.

We are a Title I school and almost all of my students are English Language Learners and they are all also diagnosed with Autism. Many of my students have significant behavioral issues that impact instruction for themselves and their classmates.

My Project

My students are several grade levels behind in math. This program would give them additional instruction in math in a one on one setting using a very fun math program online. The dreaded summer slide is particularly challenging for special education students. My kiddos thrive when they receive consistent and structured instruction, which is hard to find in a summer school program.

I want my students to achieve all year round and this program would make their summer fun and educational!

This program provides real math coaches that can help my students in real time, answering any questions they may have and explaining the problem in different ways to help them understand. This will also help them advance during the summer, instead of sliding backwards, hopefully to their grade level, so we can begin the school year in August more prepared and ready to tackle new material!
