Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class deserves it all. Our school is under construction making it hard to travel to library often. The students absolutely love reading and especially on tablets! I use it as a reward because I have to borrow them! They love comic books and photo journals because the images and illustrations convey the message! I currently work with ESE students and many of them struggle with reading. My hope is to acquire a bigger library that is filled with student interest books such as comics. I would love to be able to provide them with tablets to read online stories using programs like MyOn Reader.
My Project
These books will greatly inspire my students to pick up a book and read! My students love picture books, graphic novels, and comics. Anything that has vibrant illustrations and many of them. I try to purchase used books but difficult finding books on their level without spending a pretty penny. Another resource we use often is the Smartboard to project online books. This is good, but leaves them less independent. I want my students to read to learn and more importantly love to read. All it takes it that one amazing book and the rest is usually history!
