My Students

I teach in an urban area. All my students receive free lunches. They often lack the basic needs that we take for granted. They come to school hungry and unprepared to learn. Their parents can not provide them with the basic tools they need to succeed in school. Many of my students, who are only 6 years old, have already attended two or three schools.

However, they come to school curious, wanting to learn and explore, in a place that is safe and caring.

I do this by creating an environment that fosters their natural love for learning, a place where they can feel secure and cared about.

My Project

My students are offered a free breakfast BUT most of them do not get to school in time.

Many of my students come to school hungry.

Their parents cannot afford to provide a healthy nutritious breakfast every morning. Research says the breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Without a healthy breakfast they can not concentrate on their classwork, and they are tired and cranky. They do not have the fuel they need to nourish their body and mind.

We need healthy snacks so that every child starts the day with a healthy breakfast. Applesauce, one hundred percent juice, cereal, and granola bars are needed so they can start their day right.
