My Project
I am a first grade teacher at a historically underfunded public school. My students are excited about learning and want to excel in school. I have a large range of learning abilities in my classroom. My students come from diverse backgrounds with a variety of needs. Some have autism, ADD, or ADHD, but all of the children have the same desire to learn.
My students are sweet.
They are excited and ready to learn, explore, and take on the world. They are excited from the time they get off the bus in the morning to when they leave at night.
My students need some fuel for the brain. Learning is tough work! Many of my students come to school hungry due to limited funds at home. My small care pantry located in the classroom will need to be replenished after Summer Break. These simple snacks like chips, cookies and snack bars fulfill a basic need and will enable my students to get through the morning until it is lunchtime. Paying attention is hard work when your tummy is rumbling.
