Help me give my students mailboxes to help them organize their work and learn responsibility by sorting papers weekly to send home. My students need to be rewarded for their good behavior by spinning the wheel of choices.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Newsom's classroom raised $186

My Students
My first graders are witty and fun-loving. They walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything. Most of my students are bilingual or newcomers from Mexico. They live in a low-economic neighborhood with Spanish speaking parents. They are desperate to learn to better their lives in our country. My newcomers only get educated in the English language about 6 hours a day between the walls of my classroom. They go home to Spanish speaking homes. It is up to me to teach them English. iPads in my classroom can help me use this time wisely. I need assistance to help my newcomers feel successful with their handicap. Technology is easy to learn by students. It is a universal tool that can keep the learning happening in my room.
My Project
My students will learn responsibility by sorting our graded assignments into mailboxes for the students to put into folders and send home on Thursdays. My first graders are learning to read and write. This allows them to practice this skill while learning their classmates’ names. I intend on having all my students perform this job in our class. This is an incentive in my class from good behavior.
The spinning wheel of choices gives my students an opportunity to be responsible with a job in our classroom for a week.
The postal worker is one of these jobs. The jobs will be on the wheel of opportunity.
These items will help my students learn a community service in my class as well as enhance their reading skills.
