My Students
Starting school this hybrid year can be a challenging time for a kid, especially if you speak a different language. Students worry about who their teacher is, what friends they will make, how they will succeed in class subjects. As an English as a New Language teacher with 45 amazing New York City students, my job is to make ALL students feel safe and cared for so that they are able to learn in a nurturing environment- whether in person or remotely.
It is amazing to watch the students academically succeed and - more importantly - socially get along as they speak the language of kindness and friendship.
It is a beautiful thing to watch and guide throughout the school year.
My Project
There's no better feeling than getting some good old mail from people who care about you. Finding your name on the envelope and wondering what message is written inside is exciting.
This project for postage stamps will allow me to send my students some "snail mail" to encourage their hard work at home and bring a smile to their face.
I plan to send students envelopes filled with stickers and other rewards to brighten their day as they are learning at home. Having the postage stamps will allow me to send these caring letters.
