This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In 2009 I began to start to show my students how to referee basketball games. At first I figured I would show them how to referee. However I have shifted the focus to Life Skills and using basketball and officiating as the platform.

In April 2020, I will have a dozen Middle School Students assist and Referee the 4th and 5th grade basketball games here in our district.

I am a College Basketball Official myself and I invite some friends of mine to come out and shadow the kids. We focus on Life Skills and the importance of Communication, Wearing a Uniform, Managing a Calendar, Working Under Pressure and much more.

These items are necessary for them to begin this new journey in life. Because of Covid 19 we have not had a season in 2020 and 2021 and everyone is excited to begin!
