My kindergarteners need a dramatic play center, including a giant wood doll house, wood furniture, two multicultural doll families, a puppet stand and a classroom news playset.

"I'm the mom!"
Some might not know that this is the sound of a kindergartner learning. Research shows that children who engage in complex forms of socio-dramatic play have greater language skills than nonplayers, better social skills, more empathy, more imagination, and more of the subtle capacity to know what others mean. They are less aggressive and show more self-control and higher levels of thinking (A report from the Alliance for Childhood by Edward Miller and Joan Almon).
We are a group of 23 kindergartners. We work hard on reading, writing, arithmetic, and dramatic play! We need some more materials to stimulate our imaginations and spark interesting conversations. Unstructured play and discovery is so important at this age!
I am requesting a giant wood doll house, wood furniture to fill it, two multicultural doll families, a puppet stand for our theater, and a pretend weather station (big magnetic weather map, video camera, and microphone).
It is very important for children to practice social skills and learn to enjoy learning. We accomplish this in kindergarten with unstructured play (center time). If you choose to fund our project you will be enabling students to empower their creativity, their imaginations, and discover a new world around them!
