My students need basic materials like pencils, a pencil sharpener, paper, and sheet protectors to help them demonstrate what they know and can do. With your help, these materials will allow them to be successful.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students like many children are inquisitive, curious and motivated to learn!!! They come from many diverse backgrounds and cultures. As the saying goes, "It takes a village" and I hope that you take us on and continue to watch us as we learn and progress throughout this year. As the academic year has progressed and I have gotten to know my students, I am impressed on a daily basis of the ideas they bring with them. Herein lies our work, which is to help them fulfill their potential.
My Project
My students devour their pencils! Seriously, I have no idea what happens to them. Something as seemingly simple as trying to find a writing instrument can disrupt and hinder a student's learning process from the beginning of the period. This can offset their performance throughout the rest of their day.
I am asking for pencils, erasers, crayons, easel pads, paper, scissors, sheet protectors, a pencil sharpener and other necessary classroom supplies to alleviate the stress my students feel when they do not have the appropriate supplies to complete an assignment and feel successful.
More than this being a short term project or an activity in which my students will participate in over one unit or several weeks, the materials I am requesting will be used throughout the semester in activities involving science and math in the classroom. The activities are designed to extend student understanding of mathematical concepts and ideas, as they explore them and bring them to life by making sense of the abstract in concrete form. With science they will be creating models and representations of the work done in class and again, giving shape to their thinking. We will allow them to experience these subjects beyond the textbook, they will be creating and exploring through the use of these materials, transforming their ideas into visual representations for all to see.
